Mark Steyn sings “Christmas Glow Worm”!

December 24, 2016 By Kathy Shaidle

Mark Steyn talks about the song here. And isn’t this clever of Johnny Mercer:

Glow, little Glow Worm, and remember
Once on a long ago December
There came to earth a tiny stranger
Who lit a dark and lonely manger
Light up the sky from pole to isthmus
Spell out His blessing “Merry Christmas”
Then come nestle ‘neath the mistletoe
Glow, little Glow Worm
For us below, worm
Glow, little Glow Worm, glow.

The Mills Brothers’ “Glow Worm” is one of the great recordings, but unfortunately, the particular version I’m referring to (here) isn’t on YouTube.

The “single version” is too brassy.

The one I prefer is more “lo-fi” and “front parlour;” the instruments sound almost “kindergarten music class.”
