What the media rarely noted, while understandably trying to get the Republican presidential candidates to say something stupid about Davis, is that she is a Democrat. For some reason she rarely has the scarlet “(D)” printed next to her name underneath the photos of her looking like an indignant troll doll.
More interesting still is the background of the federal judge who locked her up. David Bunning is the son of former Republican congressman and star major-league pitcher Jim Bunning. He was appointed by George H.W. Bush at age 34, a move so startling and obnoxious that the American Bar Association recommended against his appointment and declared him “not qualified” for the bench.
