Why Radio Has Become Wary of Pranks and Stunts

March 17, 2014 By Kathy Shaidle

Corey Deitz writes:

Pranks are still prevalent on the Internet and YouTube but less than ever on radio. They have declined over the past few years and when radio personalities do pull a good one it seems they always have to back down and apologize. Radio companies often fail to stand behind their talents the moment somebody or some group screams about the insensitivity of a prank or stunt.

We are sorry about everything.

We apologize for everything.

We are ready to beat ourselves up for the simple reason we have been entertaining.

Somebody is always offended.

Somebody is always outraged.

Somebody is always suggesting a line has been crossed and the only fix is sensitivity training or some other similar rubbish.
