The New York Times wrote, vetted and printed an article without anyone pointing out that the expression “Friends of Bill” originated decades ago as a “secret handshake” expression members of Alcoholics Anonymous use to try to identify each other in mixed company.
More importantly, however, Friends of Abe should NEVER have applied for tax exempt status.
Neither, as I’ve said before, should any “Tea Party” group.
If you want to be anti-Establishment, don’t beg to join it at the same time.
Complaining about an invasive, coercive statist bureaucracy while reaping the benefits of same is unseemly and displays a shocking lack of principle and self-awareness, not to mention a lot of greed (and the clear prospect of opportunistic fraud of the “televangelist” variety.)
