The dark underbelly of the Scottish Enlightenment

November 16, 2013 By Kathy Shaidle

The Scots invented everything (and I have my grandma’s old tea towel to prove it.)

And just as its best for Objectivists not to think too much about the mobbed-up unions that built the skyscrapers they love so much, it’s tempting to avoid the story of Burke and Hare, unless you keep reminding yourself that, after all, at least they were Irishmen.

Today’s Trailers From Hell “Saturday Matinee” features The Flesh and the Fiends (1960).

A fine movie with the added bonus that you can see Donald Pleasence before he became a reliable bad-movie avatar.
