As I’ve noted before, the official version of Spinal Tap is like Pixar’s version of Cocksucker Blues — almost comically drug-and-groupie free for a mockumentary about a rock band.

I’m told that the many hours of unused material are more “realistic,” but I doubt I’ll ever watch them.

Reiner and company were right to assume that viewers would more readily embrace a more lovably “innocent” band.

It happens with real groups as well. Fans can only handle so much reality.
