But in a sane world, her letter of resignation would be the real April Fool’s joke:

I truly did not know that ‘carpet eater’ is a derogatory term used for a lesbian. Had I known, I would never have even considered using it. (…)

As an individual, I still plan on engaging with the diversity programs and resources available on campus to continue my own growth as a journalist and as a human being.

The proper phrase is “carpet muncher,” not “carpet eater” anyhow.

I guess kids these days live in such rhetorically sterile environments that actual politically incorrect insults are now ancient, second hand heretical hearsay. So they can’t even get them right when they try to be naughty.

It’s like children in Bible class who think Joan of Arc was Noah’s wife.
