The residents held up signs that said HELP US, but what I saw written across their faces was:
“Holy shit, now the entire outside world can see our sordid, useless, crappy lives!”
Their irrational, petulant behavior was fueled as much by embarrassment as temporary (and preventable) deprivation.

Opening stores in primarily Black areas — because Black people have the strange innate inability to engage in capitalistic endeavors (hence the folly of “buying Black” campaigns) — these Korean entrepreneurs daily take their lives into their own hands.
