After a friend noticed them at her station, sure enough, I saw them at a different station last Monday, just beyond the turnstiles:
Groups of three or four Somali girls with headscarves, raising money for Somali famine relief.
The only other group I’ve ever seen raising money on TTC property is the United Way, which has a Pizza Pizza slice sale one day a year.
Why are Muslims suddenly granted permission to fundraise there? Have other groups not asked to do so? If they have, why were they turned down?
So: who is the group the Somali girls are raising money for?
I guess my age is showing, but they remind me of the Manson girls.

Like her mother Inez, who was active doing charity work with the Haight-Asbury Medical Clinic in San Francisco, Abigail got involved with volunteer work. She registered as a volunteer social worker for the Los Angeles County Welfare Department.
In 1968, Abigail attended fundraisers set up by her mother to aid the Haight-Asbury Medical Clinic around the same time many of the Manson family women were being treated there.
