Couldn’t you have stayed in Africa to starve?

February 15, 2011 By Kathy Shaidle

Jeezuz:

Food banks are struggling to keep their shelves stocked. When catering to the tastes of immigrants, Minnesota’s food banks work especially hard to serve diverse food needs.

The Emergency Foodshelf Network, located in New Hope, distributes the “African Pack,” which includes plantains, sardines and palm oil as well as other package-sealed ethnic items.

I’m so old, I remember when they invented “food banks” in the 1980s and told us these were temporary set-ups, made necessary by Reagan/Mike Harris.

Now they’re a business for those who run it, a scam for many who use it — and in the case of Toronto’s Daily Bread, a stepping stone to a political career.
