5 Feet of Fury

Chris Selley must be afraid I’d beat him up or something (UPDATE below)

Chris Selley is madder at Pamela Geller for wanting to buy Asqa Parvez a gravestone than he is at the guy who put her in the ground.

He also compares Parvez’s murder to an airplane accident. Yes, her father’s “engine failed” and he accidentally fell upon her from a great height. Personally, I blame some Canada geese…

The comments in response are, er, revealing of the reason so many normal, average people don’t read the newspaper anymore. And give me reason to hope that my country is not entirely populated by morons.

Of course, Selly’s column is pretty typical.

So is Selley’s (or his editor’s) bizarre (cowardly?) decision to mention me without spelling out my name or providing a link to my blog.

Here’s my email to the National Post:

Dear Ms. McParland,

RE: Chris Selley’s post yesterday regarding Aqsa Parvez and Pamela Geller:

The commenters have already done a fine job castigating Mr. Selley for his perceived sins.

I only wish to add that, the next time Mr. Selley and your newspaper decide to call me out in public, I request that you spell out my name, the name of my blog, and give me a link.

I realize that the National Post and other newspapers make what’s left of their revenue by ripping off bloggers, but the least you can do is give us credit.

So:

My name is Kathy Shaidle.
My blog is FiveFeetOfFury.com
http://www.FiveFeetOfFury.com

And I have indeed called Arabs “violent retards” on my blog.

That’s because they insist upon behaving in a violent and retarded manner on a seemingly daily basis! Oddly enough!

Of course, being a knee jerk liberal who wants to hang onto his precious Big Time Media Job, Mr. Selley doesn’t have the courage to speak his mind.

Or maybe he does.

Maybe Mr. Selley, and the editors at the National Post, ACTUALLY BELIEVE that my calling Arabs “violent retards” a handful of times during my nine years of blogging is WORSE than the violent deeds — mutilation, murder, assorted mayhem all perpetrated in the name of Islam — which prompted my Seventh Grade name calling.

If so, you’ve all got bigger problems than declining circulation.

Naturally, because I follow the rules, I will be linking to Mr. Selley’s post on my blog this morning.

See?

UPDATE: Damn, he’s right. A loyal readers emails:

You know what’s really sad? The National Post will see the spike in site visits because of your link and instead of asking, “Who is this Kathy Shaidle and why does she resonate with people so much that they (many of them Americans) will visit a Canadian news site, register, and comment on something?”

They will likely say, “Wow, Chris. You’re post really struck a nerve with people. Good job. Keep up the good work. It looks like you’re really speaking to people.”

Except it looks like the Post has closed comments on Selley’s post. Sheesh.
