Reading Mark Steyn on the songs of Burt Bacharach…

…the only thing I can think of, pre-coffee, is how much I admire Bacharach’s (and Hal David’s) theme song for The Blob.

Imagine being a jobbing songwriter, and getting stuck with that assignment.

And still coming up with something that perfectly disguises what must have been his considerable distress and disgust. I can’t help but admire a seemingly impossible job well done…
