“I’m not even sure that the evils Trump identified, what he called the “carnage” of rusting factories and derelict inner cities, are today’s issues”

January 23, 2017 By Kathy Shaidle

As I’ve been saying — but of course Derb says it better:

The way automation is progressing, all those factories that were shipped abroad will be repatriated to the U.S.A. just in time for their workers to be totally replaced by robots. Likewise, those inner cities are being gentrified and spruced up by yuppies, while their populations are shunted out to Section Eight housing in suburbs like Ferguson, Missouri.

Four years from now, never mind eight, angst about unemployed factory workers and decaying inner cities may sound as quaint as deploring public executions or the conditions in debtors’ prisons.
