To be honest, I don’t fully understand this resentment. In particular, I don’t know why imagined liberal disdain inspires so much more anger than the very real disdain of conservatives who see the poverty of places like eastern Kentucky as a sign of the personal and moral inadequacy of their residents.
So…
Krugman doesn’t realize that Trump supporters DID “disdain” that NR “moral inadequacy” column in particular, and the entire “Against Trump” issue of the magazine in general?
Trump supporters criticized and mocked that issue of the magazine ALL the time, from the day it appeared until election day.
(And then afterward, they laughed at National Review for being so wrong.)
In other words:
Krugman doesn’t realize that “conservative” National Review and “conservative” Trump supporters aren’t the same “conservatives”?
Isn’t that a bit like thinking that Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas are the same place?
