Andrew Lawton: My unscreened encounter with David Suzuki (audio)

September 18, 2015 By Kathy Shaidle

I’ve shared my “close encounter with Suzuki” story before. Lots of people have them.

Yet he continues to be lauded as a saint.

Here’s Andrew Lawton’s recent “close encounter”:

Being the believer in second chances that I am, I offered him a mulligan on the question that caused him international humiliation on Australia’s ABC in 2013 when he offered platitudes in response to a question based on numbers that even the IPCC has accepted.

“(In 1998), global warming actually plateaued, so we haven’t seen any in the last 17 years—,” I started.

“Oh God, you’re doing the cherry picking thing,” he said, before saying the heat has been absorbed by the oceans. “There’s just no question the warming is going on, and stop cherrypicking that kind of stuff as though that’s a scientifically meaningful thing.”

He was shouting. He was even less impressed when I brought up his Australia interview.

“Oh, this sounds like a Sun News interview, is it?” he asked.

I’m unsure how he would even know what one of those sounded like, considering he reportedly rejected all requests by the former broadcaster.
