5 Feet of Fury

Perfect ‘Women’s History Month’ film airs today on TCM: ‘The Brain That Wouldn’t Die’ (1959-62)

Like Steve Martin’s The Man With Two Brains (which it inspired), The Brain That Wouldn’t Die is a feminist classic.

(It came out around the time that The Feminine Mystique came out, by the way.)

It’s one of my all-time Top 10 favorites.

Also airing today, various films I’ve probably written about before, like Spider Baby (1964) and The Last Man on Earth (1964).

(The latter having been filmed in Italy, it’s hard to decide whether or not the extras are fairly convincing zombies, or just your average Italians…)

And ones I haven’t, like the godawful Wild Guitar (1962), boring Coppola debut Dementia 13 (1963) and unwatchable killer-rabbit flick Night of the Lepus (1972) — which started out as a satire but got mangled in the 1970s disaster movie avalanche.

Stay tuned in for the “Wonderful World of Tupperware” (1959) short at 7:30 pm ET!
