‘If you were, as I was, an 18 year-old American in 1979, you had your choice of roller disco movies’

TCM Underground presents Roller Boogie this week:

Eating ROLLER BOOGIE‘s dust in the “overnight” slot at 1am PST/4am EST is the Canadian HEAVENLY BODIES (1984), the only film directed by veteran character and bad guy player Lawrence Dane. I can’t defend it, and won’t try, but for the categorically minded it’s an interesting linchpin between FLASHDANCE (1983) and PERFECT (1985), while reaching back to the old well for that narrative chestnut of kids banding together to stop mobsters/developers from ruining their favorite place.

More on Heavenly Bodies at Canuxploitation.
