‘I don’t like A.A. Gill and I don’t imagine many people do’

November 14, 2014 By Kathy Shaidle

Additional proof that I was born in the wrong country…

More:

Sheridan Morley was an old enemy of mine, so I was thrilled to see him brilliantly denounced and called to account by Jonathan Croall…

I have read thousands of books in my 81 years and this is the only one that has made me happy.

But how Paul Johnson shows his face in public — and is even granted audiences with popes — I don’t know.

(I also don’t know why Christopher Hitchens’ “The Rise and Fall of Paul ‘Spanker’ Johnson” (28 May 1998) has gone missing from Salon.com’s archives.)

I presume the real reason he “read Kissinger’s first book on his honeymoon” was because his wife foolishly neglected to pack the birch?

It is Johnson’s very mode of frontal assault which astonishes the reader.

Actually, quite the opposite, as it turns out.

I’ll say it again:

The position of men in the “Movement” should never be prone.

Let the betas assume their positions on the Left, please.
