‘Punk rock died with Joan Rivers’

Kevin E. Pittack, Jr. writes at StreetCarnage:

“Just recently, we lost a comedy great. Joan Rivers is missed by her fans now but in the future we all may miss her more. What made Joan Rivers special, was that what was on her mind managed to work it’s way past her internal filters and censors and into our ears with no impurities whatsoever. Rivers had a pulpit and used it for a noble effort: to be blunt, honest, and authentic while being a brilliant comedienne. This is a rarity in today’s culture of anti-bullying campaigns, militant multiculturalism and the conformity and groupthink that have been enabled and exacerbated by the rise of social media in our everyday lives. Not a part of the majority? Suffer the shame and indignity of being a part of the minority. It is a tribute to Rivers that she never kowtowed to such a twisted worldview, and also a reminder of the essence and greatness of the punk mentality that has faded from our popular culture.”
