Steve Sailer takes on Malcolm Gladwell’s latest whatsit

August 13, 2014 By Kathy Shaidle

Incidentally, Sailer’s column accidentally illustrates a glaring blindspot I’ve noticed in the theories put forward by Ayn Rand fans.

I agree with a lot of what Rand said — after all, in many instances, she was merely making what used to be pretty commonsense observations — but as far as I know, she never took into account the role that organized crime has played in the development of those symbols of American wealth she was so enamored of.

Not a few of those skyscrapers she fairly worshiped were financed and constructed by mobbed up unions, for instance.

Here, Sailer comments on the mob’s involvement (or lack thereof) in gold course construction.
