‘Had I’d known as a teenager what falling for John Lennon would lead to…’

July 30, 2014 By Kathy Shaidle

“I would have turned round right then and walked away.”

Says Cynthia Lennon now, but I don’t quite believe her.

I guess I should. Of all the women discussed in this article about groupies/rock star’s wives-girlfriends, she’s the one who seems to have wanted a normal life.

The rest really were starfuckers who were too talentless and lazy (see, “female”) to start their own band so they did the next “best” thing.

I never understood it:

Why be a groupie when you could start your own group?

Yeah, the music business/the world treated women like crap in those days.

But it wasn’t any better in the late 70s and beyond, when Ari Up was getting stabbed on the street for looking “weird.”

Some women dared to try their luck anyhow.

Anyway, if you enjoy reading about Hippies Behaving Badly as much as I do, here ya go.
