‘Confessions of a Failed Slut’ at first appears to be a shoot-from-the-hip take down of the author’s pet peeves…but Shaidle’s precision suggests she is more of a sniper with an advanced telescopic sight.
Her humor is excellent, her confessions and self-examination seem as honest and as ‘on target’ as her criticism of others.
Something I find important is that the subject matter is not an excuse for humor…instead humor is just one of the tools in her writer’s kit as she writes about the world she finds herself in…and the self she finds in the world.
