But before getting further into that, let’s just take a moment to address the myth that Roger Waters is a “musical genius.”
What a load of bullshit. (…)
I challenge you to name a single notable composition by “musical genius” Waters in the 31 years since Pink Floyd broke up in 1983.
Obviously, far be it from me to get too worked up about musicians in Nazi regalia, but for meta reasons that old punks will particularly appreciate, I would pay cash money to watch Waters debate John Lydon on this issue (assuming, John being John, he hasn’t changed his mind):
In our corner, in the spirit of open-mindedness, we have the unique John Lydon, who will lead his group Public Image Limited in concert in Tel Aviv this month. “If Elvis f***ing Costello wants to pull out of a gig in Israel because he’s suddenly got this compassion for Palestinians, then good on him,” Lydon told the Independent. “But I have absolutely one rule, right? Until I see an Arab country, a Muslim country, with a democracy, I won’t understand how anyone can have a problem with how they’re treated.”
