The Steve McQueen of Punk: It’s ‘the bastard’s’ birthday

December 15, 2013 By Kathy Shaidle

“He was just there, looking fantastic…the bastard.”

Paul Simonon: Making everyone else feel hopelessly inadequate since December 15, 1955.

It was never going to be any other way:

He has never taken a bad photograph. That’s just good science.

Nuthin’ you can do about it.

In fact, if you can find a bad picture of Paul Simonon, send it to me at kshaidle – AT -rogers. com.

If I agree, I will send you a copy of my book The Tyranny of Nice AND put you on the “free copy” list for my next two.

Here he is, laughing at your pathetic attempts:

He’s multi-talented:

Yet his needs are simple and few:

This car reminds me of Paul saying, on finding a bottle of champagne had been sent to his room, “Why can’t they send us something more useful… like socks or something…?”

Sure, he has some dumb ideas, and he seems to like fighting and getting arrested. (No hard feelings, though…)

But, hey, is this you? Nope? Didn’t think so:

Even old and wearing a stupid hat — makes no difference:

He could still kick your ass — and make you like it.

Paul Simonon isn’t even my favorite member of the band.

But Sunday is my busiest day, and I couldn’t think of anything else to post.

So start up your Google Images machine…

UPDATE: We have a winner!
