‘You just know if this were today, some dick parent would sue the school over the ‘one night stand’ line’

October 23, 2013 By Kathy Shaidle

The Langley School recordings are an internet staple, but here all the tunes are collected in one place.

Did you ever think you’d miss the 1970s?

Thanks, Ron, for the kind words and sincere appreciation. Hans Fenger did it again between 2001-2003 in Vancouver before he retired from teaching. I have the recordings, some similar to the LSMP, some featuring slightly different arrangements and vocals, but just as compelling.

I selected 23 tracks for a sequel, but Bar/None declined to release it. Obtaining parental and school admin permissions would be far more problematic the 2nd time around.

The success of the 1st album probably precludes there ever being a followup.

RELATED — Neil Davenport’s instant classic:

The province of Northern Ireland in the Seventies and Eighties was effectively a militarised police state, where the entire Catholic community was under surveillance and constant harassment. It was effectively an open prison for the nationalist community.

But hearing the Undertones discuss their formative years, and looking at cheerful photos from the club they rehearsed at, it was clear that even the young people there had more freedoms then than they do today.
