5 Feet of Fury

Possibly the greatest StreetCarnage post ever

[SHIFT’s]  “parent publication”—i.e., Penthouse—made a name for itself for being the first to feature women urinating, not the first to give women “a voice.” An almost universal constant in “alternative” (i.e. preachy and predictable) rags is trust funds, inheritances, enormous wealth behind them that didn’t come from feeding the homeless or concern for anyone’s but their own “voice.” That describes every last Portland paper, “alternative” and otherwise. It describes Spin and Rolling Stone. To work at one of these things you’d better toe a very certain line politically, socially, philosophically, in every wayly. There’s more divergent thinking among The Amish.
