Wait: So comic Rick Shapiro’s act was just Parkinson’s Disease all along? (video)

Laughspin:

The diagnosis was made April 25 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, according to Shapiro’s manager Tracy DeMarzo, who adds the news comes after 10 years of misdiagnoses at other facilities.

“It sounds like an old lady’s disease,” Shapiro tells Laughspin. “It’s Aunt Edna’s disease.” Shapiro tells us his main symptoms include exhaustion and stiffness, which makes it especially difficult for him to write.

Doctors have begun treating Shapiro’s disease with medication, which should alleviate his symptoms in the next few weeks. A “Shaky is the new cool” t-shirt is available for purchase to help raise awareness of Parkinson’s.
