“A bit of a circus” can indeed mean “like the Lindbergh kidnapping trial,” where someone sold tiny souvenir ladders — something so po-mo and meta it’s astonishing to think this happened before WW2.
But in this case, it meant “Ezra Levant will make us all look like morons.”
So we’re all saying the same thing. It’s just that we’re saying it outright but Chris Selley and the AAG — no surprise — are hiding behind cliches.
And come to think of it, I can easily imagine Ezra — or someone — selling Cher dolls or “I GOT GYPPED!” t-shirts or somesuch outside the courthouse.
Ezra Levant’s biggest crime seems to be that he threatens to make Canada more interesting.
