When I went to the second Police Picnic, Joan Jett was on the roster, along with the Talking Heads and about six other groups.
She was booed from start to finish.
Too old. Not really “punk” or whatever.
Possibly too female. But not feminine enough.
(Tina Weymouth was heavily pregnant.)
It chilled me.
Now you’d never find anyone who’d admit to doing that.
I hate that she’s a knee jerk liberal. But I still love her. And wish I had her haircut.
