Left-heimer’s: ‘Progressives’ live in the past (chapter CXVII)

It’s the Quiet Revolution that never shuts up!

Progressive, educated, sophisticated Quebeckers riot in the name of old pieces of paper that called for the outright rejection of even older pieces of paper; pretty confused about what year it is, real life economics and stuff:

Amid all the tensions, the genesis of the students’ demand is being lost, Weinstock said. The idea of free education, and it being a right rather than a privilege, has its roots in the Parent Report [1963-66] which created the modern Quebec education system during the Quiet Revolution.

It took education out of the hands of the clergy and made it a public responsibility.

Free education is an objective – and at that time it was valid,” Weinstock said. “It may be that circumstances have changed and we no longer can espouse it or want to espouse it but it’s part of our DNA as a society … and it at least warrants a public discourse when we as a society make moves away from that rather than closer to it.”

Oh, dear…  Basing their lives on a fantasy from the 1960s… “Those poor people…”

Hang on! It gets better:

The government, says Weinstock, has managed to boil the issue down from the bigger question in the Parent Report to saying the increase is the equivalent to a dollar a day. “It could be that the students are wrong, but it’s a valid question and one that is very much part of the Quebec public discussion since the Quiet Revolution, not something they’re bringing from Albania or something.”

But guess what some “Canadians” ARE “bringing from Albania or something”?

Sharia and female genital mutilation!

And this very same Weinstock doesn’t seem too upset about that:

PS:

Speaking of “DNA” — I wonder how Quebec students feel about having this obviously NOT pure laine — in fact, pretty obviously JEWISH anglo — serving as their de facto champion in the media…
