Patrice O’Neal: the ‘crowd work’ king

February 8, 2012 By Kathy Shaidle

Slate prissily calls O’Neal a “sexist” and “even a misogynist;” bemoans the fact that his early death will prevent him from “exploring the sources of his anger;” and helpfully explains the phenomenon of the “laughter of recognition,” in a painful-to-read thingie about the late comic (whose CD drops today.)

(Have I mentioned lately how hard it is to read contemporary “concern troll” style “writing about comedy like this crap?)

BONUS:

Candid discussion about race, and why white people hate themselves (two of the panelists are dead now, btw — can comedians even get insurance?)
