I’m sorry but when did we surrender our property rights in this country to the whims of a city manager and a pile of hackneyed councilors more concerned about protecting trees than abiding by centuries of jurisprudence on property rights.

This by-law does away with property rights and puts us back in the days of “The King’s Forest” where no mere serf could touch a tree save by royal consent. (…)

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms does not explicitly mention property rights but section 26 does say that “The guarantee in this Charter of certain rights and freedoms shall not be construed as denying the existence of any other rights and freedoms that exist in Canada.”
