Once upon a time, when I was on a TV show…

The otherwise sympathetic host advised me, with the best of intentions, to “tone down the gun stuff.”

I replied that:

a) his show was seen in northern and rural communities too, even though it was taped just outside the 416, and

b) more Torontonians own guns than he might imagine.

The latter statement was based entirely on my gut feelings and a few conversations I’d had, online and off.

Naturally, it turns out I was correct:

The Star has exclusively obtained a geographical breakdown of the federal firearms registry data that shows more than 287,000 “nonrestricted” weapons are registered in Canada’s biggest city.
