‘Comedy’ is doomed, Part XVII

January 23, 2012 By Kathy Shaidle

Listen to these f*ckwads:

In December, 2011, Toronto comedians Graydon Sheppard and Kyle Humphrey “were sitting around one day watching TV, and one of us said, ‘Can you pass me that blanket?’ It immediately struck us as a ‘girl’ thing to say. I know that sounds terrible. (…)

Naima Ramos-Chapman wrote in the Huffington Post that the ‘Shit Girls Say’ meme is sexist and racist and should end.” (…)

I am conflicted, but I think the damage this causes outweighs the fun. It makes serious issues comical. Sometimes this is effective. But it seems that these comedies hide real racial, gender, and social issues.
