In the Black Scorpion trailer, when the scorpion (at the one-minute mark) snatches the locomotive, it looks to me like it says “Lionel Lines” on the tender.
Joe Dante is right: giant monster movies (like true crime books, etc) can be oddly cozy — the comfort food of movies.
The Black Scorpion is a fine example.
