The Shafia girls were likely the victims, not only of a crime, but of our perverse national habit: We emphasize multicultural propriety more than the welfare of individual human beings. And this goes triple for Muslims.
That’s the background that shapes the day-to-day policies of teachers, social workers and even police. It makes them overly anxious to conciliate, to mollify. It disarms their best instincts and prevents them from doing what they would want to do: Get potential victims out of danger.

But Canadians (although not just Canadians) have another “perverse national habit”:
Working for the government and for might-as-well-be-government agencies like the police, education and the “helping” professions.
All of which offer employees juicy benefits, which they’d lose if they didn’t keep their heads down.
If they say or do anything “racist,” they’ll get hauled to “sensitivity training”, or worse.
Canadians choose getting their children’s braces paid for over the lives of other children, whom they’re supposedly tasked with protecting.
And frankly, I don’t think most of them suffer any pangs of conscience for doing so.
Most of them simply aren’t very thoughtful.
Why doesn’t Fulford question why so many “nice” Canadians are such “willing executioners,” such selfish, statist, semi-Stasi scumbags?
The very bureaucracy you (it wasn’t me) set up to “look after people” is killing them, because the State either cannot or will not protect you when the time comes.
In fact, all their bureaucratic rules and regulations designed “for your safety” to avoid a lawsuit might get you killed.
The Nazis told themselves, and the world, that they were just doing their jobs.
Too many Canadians are just trying to keep theirs by not doing their jobs at all.
