‘It’s the end of R.E.M. as we know it, and I feel fine’

October 1, 2011 By Kathy Shaidle

Rick McGinnis talks about the breakup of R.E.M., (and how he was banned from the CBC after daring to diss The Beatles):

This was the band whose fans dubbed it – in fond parody of a slogan that once dogged The Clash – as “The Only Band that Mutters,” a band whose first album was called Murmur and featured a sepia cover photo of a kudzu-covered landscape, as forthright a description of the contents within as if the Rolling Stones had titled their debut long-player Fake Menace and illustrated it with a copy of Mick Jagger’s tax return.

PS: Arnie had to upload this video to MRC’s site because after one viewing, embedding was disabled, presumably by Simon Cowell, LLC Inc. (The hate whose name you dare not speak?)

PPS: speaking of reality TV — remember that Gene Simmon’s “Wedding Episodes” start next week.

Also, based on two throw away lines on his podcast, I believe Adam Carolla will be on Celebrity Apprentice next season.

I now have a reason to keep on living.
