5 Feet of Fury

Warren Kinsella has a newspaper column and I don’t: a continuing series

Warren Kinsella scolds the Mayor for snubbing the “Pride” Parade:

No one knows for sure, but experts seem to peg Canada’s gay and lesbian population as high as 15%. If true, that’s a lot of voters.

***
That’s the first time I’ve heard that one, not even from gay activists. Fifteen percent?

The long-discredited “Kinsey number” — 10%, a number that was a cornerstone of the entire gay rights movement — was debunked years ago.

Now, it sure seems like there are lots more gay people around than ever before — hence this startling survey. This is because gays are louder and more obnoxious than ever before, and like many victimized and insecure individuals,  have discovered the joys of bullying.

And granted, plenty of Toronto men “read” gay but actually aren’t. Half the ones I meet under 40 set off my gaydar, but that’s just because they’re spindly “twink” types with high voices and bitchy personalities. Then they introduce you to their wife and two kids. (Yeah, I know, but come on…)

The figure is more like 4%, as anyone who reads non-MSM media knows.

(UPDATE: StatsCan says about 1%. I guess they aren’t “experts.”)

(Be sure to bookmark Michael Coren’s classic blog post about the other falsehoods about Toronto Pride.)

And actual journalist Mark Bonokoski scolds Kinsella this week for his equally outlandish claim that “Canada’s media is overwhelmingly conservative.”

No, he apparently wasn’t joking about that either.

Bonokoski has a great time with this:

Kinsella began this “erratum” by confessing to mistakenly writing in a previous column the Toronto Star had endorsed the Liberals in the May 2 election, when they muddily endorsed Jack Layton and his NDP.

While I would hate to think Kinsella is losing his marbles at such a young age — he’s only 50 — it would appear he has his crock confused with his popper.

No word on whether or not Bonokoski’s been served yet. But it’s only Monday morning…

UPDATE #2 — this is what I’m talking about (from the Globe & Mail):

These “omega male” partners of “breadwinner wives” are exactly the people who are transforming the gender dynamics of family and spurring a revolution in engaged fatherhood. In fact, the much-maligned qualities that qualify men as “omega males” — an apparent absence of testosterone, a childlike affinity for fun, a surplus of disposable time — are exactly the qualities that can transform men into remarkable fathers.
