5 Feet of Fury

I’m pretty sure the same space aliens kidnapped Scorcese, too

Rick McGinnis reviews the new American Graffiti DVD:

Based on his first box office hit, no one in 1973 leaving the theatre after enjoying American Graffiti would have guessed that the name George Lucas would one day be associated with a humourless control freak obsessed with overworking the legacy of his most successful but least interesting film with an ever more risible series of prequels whose plotlines revolve around trade disputes…

Universal’s long-overdue Blu-ray reissue of the film comes with a rather essential making-of documentary and a video commentary with Lucas that will make you wonder if Watergate was just a distraction for the pod people who snatched the real Lucas away and replaced him with a sinister clone.

PS: one day we’ll find out Coppola never directed The Godfather(s), either. Have you seen his other stuff?

And I still love Malcolm McDowell, so I’m gonna have to get hold of the Kubrick set “extra.”
