I grew up below the so-called “poverty line.” I spent the first 20 years of my life surrounded by “the poor.” They are the greediest people I’ve known. They think everything they want (not need) should be provided for someone else, for free.
Their notions of how the world operates are fatally flawed, which is one of the reasons they never get anywhere in life.
Then again, I’ve spent more time with “the poor” than Cornel West has.
And compared to him and his annual salary, I guess I’m one of those poor people.
So I can authoritatively inform you that his worldview is completely upside down.
Fat, lazy, self-absorbed: Today’s “poor” are the “rich” Jesus warned you about.
