5 Feet of Fury

It’s isn’t a ‘punk’ album if you took funding from the Canadian government

Big government anarchists are nothing new.

But this is a new low:

The CD liner notes also portray the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven, a central tenet of the Christian faith, as the “Ascension of the Holy S—.”

That’s right, a turd, wrapped in white cloth, surrounded by the apostles as they watch it rise. Oh, and they mention the Poo Testament.

A punk band trying to shock people shouldn’t be news anymore and it’s not. What makes this news is the government of Canada helped fund the album.

This raises a number of questions, first among them being, what self-respecting punk band takes $13,000 in government money?

Right there in the same liner notes mocking Christianity however is the statement, “We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of Canadian Heritage.” The back of the album also has the government of Canada logo.
