Has the lyric ‘Meet the new boss, same as the old boss’ ever been more apt?

I’m glad there’s a “Conservative” majority because the alternative is even more disturbing.
Few socialists will appreciate that by coming in “second” in a majority parliament, they have, in effect, come in last.
So glad Iggy (my MP) got kicked out of the riding he never lived in. And yes, they are always so articulate when they’ve lost, aren’t they?
The Conservatives won in part by doing the thing we always criticized the Liberals for doing: Courting the ethnic vote. This is fine if they sincerely appealed to the conservative social/economic instincts of certain (cough) groups that historically encourage running grocery stores instead of robbing them. But what it means in real life is that the government will continue to redirect my extorted tax dollars to prop up (fatally competing) ethnic hobby horses.
It doesn’t matter who lives in 24 Sussex because the world is run by unionized, heavily pensioned job-for-life bureaucrats. Last night was a puppet show.
Since a lot of the NDP sweep was a Quebec protest vote against the Bloc, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the French woke up yesterday suddenly more commie than usual. A lot of these flaky new MPs may not survive re-election. Or not. To us, a woman who spent the campaign in Vegas is an embarrassment. To the average indolent Quebecker, she’s living their dream.
What does it mean for the Liberals? Oh, please, you know as well as I do: The Lying Jackal will sweep in this morning in his white furniture delivery van and “save the day.”
