We agree we should have that debate, and that Charles is a twit, but we don’t think the ascendancy of someone we don’t like is itself a good reason to ditch the monarchy. There needs to be a positive argument for it too, and some guarantee that the monarchy’s place in the national psyche wouldn’t simply be replaced by an American flag with an X through it.
