5 Feet of Fury

Our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us last night…

Arnie was convinced no one would show up for his fundraiser/Chanukah party here in Toronto last night.

Instead, the place was packed. Friends old and new came from far across the GTA, and from London and even Ottawa!

Our hosts went to a great deal of trouble, setting out seasonal food and drink and decorating the hall.

(Arnie is now considering converting, having just discovered that Jews are the ones with the donuts…)

We were taken aback by everyone’s generousity, especially in times like these.

(Our lawyer will be thrilled!)

Even more gratifying, however, was the show of moral support.

We realize that the issue of free spech, Section 13 and the Human Rights Commissions remain touchy subjects for some in the Jewish community, so those prepared to re-examine their long held beliefs deserve special appreciation.

Joseph Ben-Ami of the Canadian Center for Policy Studies articulated this dilemma candidly and eloquently in his speech. I still can’t believe he came all the way from Ottawa to support our fight! (Now that’s a mensch!)

Arnie was compelled to say a few words, and despite what’s he says at his blog, he did a fine job.

So thanks again to everyone for coming out last night, and for the JDL for hosting this amazing event! Please get in touch if you didn’t get a chance to say hello in person.

UPDATE: a terrific write up with photos!
