Raise the retirement age to 70, starting tomorrow.
Old people get enough free stuff already, and if you didn’t plan your life properly, that’s not my problem.
The more I watch tea party honchos rant against government spending and big government, the more frustrated I am that, for all their ardor, only very rarely do they squarely address the problem of entitlements and what aging Baby Boomers will mean for it.
Even the tea party’s “Contract from America” doesn’t touch the third rail: It dances around it…

British old people upset because they have to pay for their own care when they get really old and frankly, would have been dead already in any other era anyhow.
Of course you have to sell your house now. That’s what it was for: so you could sell it and get money someday. Look: you’ve got Alzheimers — you don’t know where you are anyhow.
But old people demand their “free” stuff AND are taking longer to die all the time. Not a recipe for a healthy society.
