Look, I don’t think dressing like this should be against the law. It’s stupid, but wear what you want — at a private party.
But it’s not great having an organization that, in the minds of the average person, represents the Canadian military, being seen to somehow condone, never mind reward, someone else’s idiocy.
I realize the Legion Hall hosts all kinds of events that have nothing to do with Legion business, and, lacking ESP powers, had no idea some goofs would show up. But the Legion had to say something.
Normally I hate this kind of post-event “zero tolerance” damage control. Now that it is in the papers and everybody’s been called out, let the Legion reopen and get back to important business — this is November, after all.
