Some have blamed talk show host Glenn Beck and Fox News for inciting Williams to violence, but Williams says that’s not true. But that paradoxically it may have been Fox and Beck’s moderation that caused him to be angrier and eventually act on that anger last month.

In another case of politically motivated violence just last week, on the opposite side of the political spectrum, James J. Lee was shot dead by police on September 1 after he held three people hostage at the headquarters of the Discovery Channel in Silver Spring, Maryland. Police say he was a radical environmental activist.
