I love the site, but that smirking, hairly little puke John “Asshole” Landis is the shit in the ice cream who always ruins it for me.
Talking about The Purple Heart, he quips that all the Japanese were played by Chinese actors because “America put all its Japanese citizens in camps” during World War II.
Hey, John: they missed a few!
He thinks its hysterically funny to make a movie about American soldiers being subject to a “show trial” in Japan. And that is pretty damn funny, since American soldiers (and Chinese and Philipino) civilians were gutted, castrated and beheaded by the Japanese by the score, no trial (“show” or otherwise) required.
Understandably, Landis wants to avoid the subject of beheading and Asian people as much as possible…
