Rick Sanchez’s apology ironically proves he was right all along, making him an even bigger idiot than we thought

If you strip out the “Jews run the media” bit (and according to this guy, even that can stay in), Rick Sanchez didn’t say anything about the media (and in particular, Jon Stewart’s political bias) you haven’t heard from conservatives:

Dominick: How is [Jon Stewart] bigot?

Sanchez: I think he looks at the world through, his mom, who was a school teacher, and his dad, who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I’m so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could ever imagine.

Dominick: What group is he bigoted towards?

Sanchez: Everybody else who’s not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with?

So now Sanchez has apologized to Stewart for telling the truth: that Stewart surrounds himself with Ivy League liberal writers and makes fun of conservatives far more often than he does leftists.

Duh.

But the irony-deficient Sanchez makes it even worse now, issuing an apology to Stewart.

As Jeffrey Lord points out:

…the news reports that CNN had quickly fired Sanchez for calling Stewart a bigot contrasted sharply with the CNN response after Sanchez had aired a 100% bogus report that Rush Limbaugh had once spoken out in favor of slavery. The Limbaugh episode arose when Rush was part of a deal to buy an interest in the NFL St. Louis Rams.

Because of flat-out untruths such as the one uttered by Sanchez on CNN, the deal fell through. Under legal pressure, Sanchez retracted on-air.

But the damage to Rush Limbaugh — real-time, serious damage to a personal business deal — was done.

That Sanchez went crawling to Stewart, not Limbaugh, has little to do with power and influence.

After all, Limbaugh has more than ten times the number of listeners than Stewart has viewers.

It has everything to do with wanting to make nice with liberals. Even if they are low rated, smirky bores whose main audience consists of 20 year old Cheetos addicts, liberals are still “the cool guys.”
