Canadian gun rights activist must turn himself (back) in to jail — prayer request

Email from Bruce Montague:

Dear Supporters:

It’s been just over 6 years now since my arrest (Sept 11, 2004) and we’re still hanging in!

I must admit I’m getting battle weary but still have the resolve to see this through because “it’s the right thing to do!”.

I just got this news in this morning from my lawyer. It’s an e-mail from the “justice” department that the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) has reviewed our application to appeal our case to the Supreme Court.

Following is what that e-mail said:

“[On Sept. 13th] the Supreme Court of Canada announced [today] that it will be releasing its decision on this leave application on Thursday September 16, 2010 at 9:45 a.m.”

I’m currently out on bail but must now turn myself back in to jail before the decision is made. I’m not sure how long I’ll be held for, but much of that depends on what the decision is.

So it looks like I’ll be out of touch for a while but I would really welcome all your prayers during this stressful time for both myself and my wife and kids.

Your prayers have helped us through this for over 6 years now and we have a lot to be thankful for, including:

   1. Donna and I still have our health
   2. Donna still has a good job.
   3. All 3 of our kids are progressing very well in their university courses.
   4. Legal-wise we are right on track (so far) for having our constitutional claim heard at the Supreme Court of Canada.

I would specifically like to ask for prayers at this time that the Supreme Court will seriously consider our claim in an unbiased manner so that the rights and freedoms of all Canadians are respected.

You should expect a newsletter from someone in our case management team this Thursday letting you know what the SCC decision is. In the meantime, God bless!

Yours in Liberty,

Bruce
